At Maker Junior, we want to inspire the next generation of innovators. We believe that kids are inventors, scientists and mathematicians today – they just might not know it yet.
Maker Junior uses “Maker” inspired projects to help kids learn about technology by combining traditional arts and crafts materials with motors, electronic components, and more. Kids can explore different aspects of science and technology creatively, using materials they’re already familiar with.
Maker Junior projects make technology accessible and fun.
We all learn by doing. “Doing” is what matters. And making something real helps kids understand more abstract things like science and math concepts.
Maker Junior projects emphasize experimentation. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t – and that’s ok. In fact, that’s kind of the point. Kids learn through trial and error, and are able to work through their frustration to get to often surprising results.
Maker Junior helps kids go from passive consumers to active creators. With our projects, kids can:
Build confidence
Learn patience
Develop fine motor skills
Test boundaries in a safe environment – that’s where breakthroughs happen!
‘Making’ reinforces learning and allows kids to absorb new knowledge in a way that makes sense to them. Instead of having to learn something according to someone else’s “map”, making lets kids learn new concepts in a personal way. This lays the foundation for becoming self-directed and independent as adults.
The Maker movement has a vibrant and enthusiastic following ... but Maker Junior wants to take making to the most natural makers of all: kids.
Kids always want to create things. When a child builds her own doodling robot, she not only learns something about motion and movement, she develops her creativity and problem-solving skills. She learns that mistakes are ok – in fact, they’re part of the process.
Kids learn about technology with Maker Junior projects, but the real benefits are what they learn about themselves ... that they can work through problems, that they can try and fail, and try again. That they can succeed.
At Maker Junior, we help kids everywhere learn about technology by taking traditional arts and crafts materials that they’re already familiar with and applying them to projects with a tech twist. Our projects are open-ended, so kids can decide for themselves what success is. Each kit comes with everything you need to get started and includes easy-to-follow instructions with full color pictures.
